New gang member

Carla Fawns joined the team here 6 weeks ago and thought she'd got away with this one but nothing gets past us. Half Chilean it makes sense that Carla is AKA Speedy Gonzales with her swift imaging and scanning skills. Looking after our busy reception desk and imaging department, we set aside 10 minutes for a cheeky Q&A session to find out a little more about our very own hip hop, scratching DJ ...

What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Put on music, make a brew and get ready for work!

Six other names that you go by?
I don’t really have any particular nicknames. My best mate calls me ‘C’, and my uni mates call me ‘mamacita’ They are the only ones I know of…oh and Carly when people get my name wrong but I’m too polite to correct them haha.

Which actress would you like to play you in the movie of your life?
Can I have Selma Hayek in her ‘Dusk til Dawn’ glory please?

What would be your death row meal and drink of choice and which celebrity would you invite along to share your last night?
Erm a selection of Chinese starters then I would have to have Pad Thai for the main oh no KFC or both? Erm definitely a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough ice cream for dessert and a selection of Mango and Passion fruit Rubicon’s to drink. And I would have to invite Tyler the creator.

What is your TV heaven?
I’m ashamedly addicted to Keeping up with the Kardashians and most of the crap on the E channel.

What is on your Ipod?
I’m a Hip hop head so De La soul, a tribe called quest, The Pharcyde, Common, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Souls of mischief, Pete Rock, J Dilla, Floetry, Slum Village, The Roots, Jazzy Jeff and …JLS haha.

What’s your favourite film?
The disturbing but brilliant KIDS.

How would you spend your perfect weekend?
I’d go London to visit all my lovely mates down there, drink fruit cider and talk rubbish as standard. Go Portabello market and Camden, go shopping for vinyl and catch a gig somewhere.
Go home for Sunday in time to catch my grans Sunday dinner and relax with my family.

Favourite holiday hotspot?
Mexico is definitely a fave ARRIBA!

Vintage, high street or designer?
If I could have my way I would dress like an LA skater kid everyday but as I am a 24 year old woman from Manchester I try and dress a bit more appropriately.
Topshop, Urban Outifitters and H&M are always my first stops. If I could have designer AND vintage I’d have a wardrobe full of the vintage Versace Lady Gaga is rockin at the minute, nothing like a bit of Versace print and gold.

Home is . . . ?
My mums house in Manchester.

Facebook –friend or foe?
Foe. I left facebook 4 month ago and don’t miss it one bit, saying that I have a feeling I will probably cave in and re-join soon enough.

What’s the saying or word you use most in the day ?
Yeah that’s fine and Y’alright (in a scallyMancunian accent of course)

A fairy lends you their magic wand and grants you one wish, what would it be?
I’d be a kick ass hip hop DJ with my own show on Radio 1xtra, watch your back Tim Westwood.

Harvey Nichols A/W 2011

It's our favourite time of year again; fresh mornings, crunchy leaves, cosy evenings, autumnal tones and warm furs. What better way to prepare us for the new season ahead than the Harvey Nichols A/W fashion show, sponsored by Land Rover. Now not only do we want that Roberto Cavalli snake dress and those gold Christian Louboutin's but also the new Land Rover Evoque.
